Description: I believe this extremely rare license-plate insert is from Florida, which issued them for two years – 1934 and 1935 – before recognizing that inserts weren’t such a great idea. It’s possible that this one from 1934 was never mounted onto a plate, since by their design – tabs that were crimped down more or less permanently – once they’re installed, the inserts are nearly impossible to remove without destroying them. This very straight insert measures 1 ¼ inches by 10 ½ inches and still has some of its original cream-colored paint on the right front side with the “34.” The left front of the insert has some surface rust that makes a stamped “G” difficult to read. But there is no rust-out anywhere on the insert and the “G” is very legible on the reverse side. The original tabs appear never to have been crimped. Free shipping only to U.S. Lower 48.
