For your consideration is a Mamod TE1a Live Steam Tractor made in England in 1984 (?) This Mamod Live Steam Tractor is in very good (and a bit dirty) condition.It has been air tested (video) and should not give much trouble to operate on steam.It is complete and all original except for the original box that is missing.It has been fired a few times and, while it can use a thorough cleaning, I hardly saw any corrosion. Here is the explanation for the question mark after the date (1984 ?) :It could be a rare model, such as a rare stamp that has a defect.I was told that, around August 1984, Mamod made a few tractors without the steering rod attachment. Did they miss some parts at the time, was it an experiment, was it merely to save a few bucks and is it even true ? I don't know. What I know is that the attachment of the front axle is somewhat unique and I have never seen another one like that. You will need some solid fuel pellets (anywhere camping supplies are sold) and distilled water is strongly recommended. This item was around for 60+ years without a whole lot of changes.
