Kennedy: This fine fighting ship served in the Atlantic, Med and fought in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, plus sent planes to strike in Afghanistan. She was one of two of the last USN non-nuclear flat-tops and was decommissioned on 1 Aug 2007. She was unable to become a museum vessel and was sold to be recycled into scrap metal in 2021.
