This 314 foot converted seaplane tender was built in the Norfolk Navy Yard. and commissioned in 1920 as Destroyer # 342. This active vessel fought in the Pacific Theater and earned two WW II battle stars. The ship in 1943, served off the Aleutians,and was grounded during a storm. She was repaired and served as DD-342 for the remainder of the war escorting ships. She was sold to be recycled into scrap metal in 1946.
