Description: Description Epiphone Emperor Thinline '76 Sunburst Epiphone is now familiar as a sister brand of Gibson, but before it was acquired by Gibson's parent company CMI (Chicago Musical Instruments) in the late 1950s, it was a historic brand that was active as a rival to Gibson, especially in the field of archtops. After the acquisition by CMI, production of solid body models began, and many attractive models loved by guitar fans around the world were born. This time, it was produced at the Matsumoku factory in the 1970s. It is a variation model of the ``Emperor'', which has long reigned as the highest-end model. [Body] The total weight is about 4.5 kg. The body width is slightly reduced from the large body width of the old Emperor to about 17 inches, and as the model name suggests, the thin body thickness of the spruce top/maple side back is an archtop semi-hollow structure. The traditional sunburst color is luxuriously decorated with multi-ply binding and gold hardware. This particular instrument has had its swing tailpiece replaced with a Bigsby B-7 tremolo unit. There are large weather checks, dents, traces of strap pin movement, a history of cell binding touch-up on the bottom of the body, and dull metal parts, and it is in good condition with a vintage instrument-like atmosphere. The pickguard is missing, and the strap pins and control knobs have been replaced. [Neck] The neck is a 5-piece maple set neck with cushioning material in between. The fingerboard is ebony. There are a few dents on the back of the neck and dull metal parts, and it is in good condition like the body. The tuners work well, although there is some variation in the tightness of the winding. The frets and nut have been replaced, and the playability is good. Nut width 43.5mm. The neck shape feels relatively slim due to the wide neck. [Electrical system] The controls are orthodox [3-way pickup selector / 2 volume / 2 tone]. The pickups are equipped with two original humbuckers. It responds well to picking, and the warm, clear tone has a better range than the deep-bodied model, making it a versatile sound.
