The airline requested and received philatelic recognition for the flights and official cachets were provided at all points. McDonnell Douglas MD-80 equipment was used on all of the inaugural flights. This cover was carried on the inaugural USAir flight from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Airport Mail Facility to Las Vegas, Nevada (where it was backstamped) and is listed in The American Air Mail Catalogue as AL-D104Wf.
