Description: CVP89 (2013 Reindeer holiday stamp)+ Missing design error (full sheet)+ CVP88A (USPS Eagle design) These 3 stamps compromise and interesting story that will make for a nice add-on to a specialized collection of CVP stamps (I personally bought all of the 3 items shown in this lot). 1) For the 2013 Holiday season, the USPS issued CVP89 for the automated postal center kiosks. Most post office kiosks continued selling these well into January & February 2014.--> This stamp is from kiosk #B728 (1st 4 characters of the code), which was at the main post office in Richardson, TX 75080.--> This stamp was purchased on January 1, 2014 (identified as 40101 in the code, formatted as YMMDD) 2) When the CVP89 stamps were sold out at this post office, they were replaced with the red-striped blank stamp labels. HOWEVER, the USPS personnel neglected to tell the kiosk that they had now inserted the blank labels (w/red stripes) instead of the pre-printed labels with the Reindeer image. So, the machine simply printed the items on the left side of the stamp (ie: the word FOREVER, the 2D matrix code and the vertical "serial #" line of characters).--> What this resulted in was an ERROR stamp without a "design" element. In this case a sheet of 9 stamps + 1 "not valid" label.--> Generally, the blank labels with red line line one the right side were used for printing CVP85, CVP85B, CVP86 and CVP88A. However, this is none of these!--> This sheet is also from the same machine #B728 and was purchased on January 19 ("40119"). 3) This is CVP88A, bought at another kiosk (also in the north Dallas area) around the same time (January 2, 2014 in this case). This is what should have been printed on the sheet above had the USPS personnel set the machine up properly! A tricky thing with the sheet is, that the word "USA" is missing, although it does state FOREVER. With the regular Reindeer CVP89 stamps, the word USA is part of the pre-printed design and with the regular CVP88A "Eagle" design, the word USA is printed by the kiosk at the time of purchase. So can the "missing design" stamps be used as postage? I have used a couple of these to pay for postage or postal fees. So, if you want something interesting for your collection, plus the story that goes with it, then this lot is for you! Reasonable price considering the ERROR sheet. Due to scarcity and value, I will only send this lot via insured priority mail within the USA (and I will try to use interesting CVP stamps, including error ones as part of the postage -> so you'll have some additional nice postal history for your collection!). Questions? Please ask before purchasing. I have been intensively studying, collecting & exhibiting USA CVP items starting in 2011, and have written well over 100 pages of articles about them and multiple exhibits at local & national level shows here in the Dallas, Texas area. Domestic USA shipments only, no foreign.
