These albums were distributed as gifts to friends of the president and the post office. The proofs were made with wide borders and printed to be prime examples of the postmaster's work. It is as sharp and clean an impression as possible. This stamp was cut out of the album leaving it attached to the cardboard backing. Striping stamps off the backing often results in damage to the stamp. Better to leave it on like this. It is important that you contact me before you send the stamp out.
