Description: US GI M1 LINER, HELMET, GROUND TROOP, TYPE 1, 1983, w/ SUSPENSION & SWEATBAND.This is nearly last production of the M1 Ground Helmet Liner, because the PASGT Ballistic Helmet commenced production and issue during the same period. I am listing the helmet as "Used," although I doubt it was ever worn during its service life; liner and suspension are nearly new, but headband/sweatband appears slightly used. Another seller has sold 8 of these helmets "New" for $69.50, and he did not include the headband or instruction booklet. The Ground ("Infantryman") Liner instruction booklet is a later printing of the one published in 1964 to instruct soldiers in proper adjustment of headband and suspension; it is 24 pp in 6 x 4.5" format. It does not illustrate installation of the removable type suspension, because that did not become available until 1971. There is a logo in the crown of the helmet, shown in one photo, but I don't recognize it. No neckband is included in this sale, but this liner has the three small buckles to accommodate one. The helmet shown in the above photos has been sold; this listing is for an identical helmet, in which the suspension and sweatband has already been installed. It may be necessary to remove the sweatband from the suspension in order to adjust it properly, and then reinstall it. An instruction booklet is also included with current listing.
