A series of 10 medals were designed for the Border Patrol in the late 90's, but before most were manufactured, or issued, the agency was transferred to the Department of Homeland Security, and renamed. Ribbon was manufactured for the 10 medals, and service ribbon sets, made from excess ribbon, have recently become available. The eleventh award (Academy Honor Graduate) was a ribbon only award, and until now, was unavailable. Personnel eligible for this ribbon included those graduating first, second and third academically, first in driver training, first in physical training and first in firearms training (including trainees who fire a perfect qualifying score of 360). A 3/16 inch gold, silver and bronze star, centered on the ribbon would identify first, second and third place academic honor graduates. As far as I know, this ribbon was never issued. Service ribbons are provided WITHOUT mounting devices! If you need service ribbon mounts, please contact me prior to purchasing this item.
