This item has been washed and waterproofed 2x both the canvas and interior lining. Lining was showing signs of starting to dry out so I kinda went to town and did the whole bag. This is going to prolong the life of the item as well as whatever you choose to put inside. There's a bunch of photos so zoom in. Again, washed and treated (mid-Sept so all dried) and ready to go right out of package. When asking my father about it (3rd Recon Vietnam '67-'69 active field combat then USMC Drill Sgt and lent to Recondo school to teach Army Rangers so knows what he's talking about more than many) said the following - "I never saw it in Vietnam but I was a Marine and this is 1974 Army. It would likely be used for deployments. I would guess it would be long field assignments, week or more where you had to carry anything you would need including C-rations. A back pack could handle a week worth of needs. Adding this sub-pack would likely mean a long term field deployment." I'll be lusting more militaria in the weeks and months to come if you want to save me as a seller.
