Description: This is a Silver coloured cable chain pendant necklace made from a very rare FIVE PENCE coin. It is from 1983 which is a 41st birthday. In 1982, 11 years after Decimalisation Day on 15th February 1971, the word 'NEW' was removed from the reverse, so the legend now reads 'FIVE PENCE'. From 1981 to 1987, no five pence coins were struck for circulation since the pre-decimal shillings, with a value of 5p, were still circulating as part of the decimalisation process. Consequently, this year can only be found in Royal Mint annual Brilliant Uncirculated & Proof sets. Shillings, along with this larger 5p type, were demonetised in 1990 when the smaller 5p coin was introduced. Usually my coins have been in circulation but this has not so it is in pristine condition. It has been highly polished to a mirror finish and then lacquered to prevent tarnishing. The cable chain is new & Silver plated with a Lobster claw clasp. Length is 450 mm (18") which can be extended to 500 mm (20"). The photos are of the actual item and it is from 1983. Very rare. An ideal gift for birthday or anniversary. See my other items for lots more coin jewellery. Any questions, please ask. Thanks for looking. Gift wrapping not included.
