Description: TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, the musical, (1971) is based on Shakespeare's comedy of the same name. It's a delightful, buoyant and boisterous romp through Verona and Milan in what many think was Shakespeare's first work for the stage. The Bard's play was musicalized by composer Galt McDermot (of Hair fame). Lyricist and co-book-writer was playwright John Guare. The play opened in Central Park as a production of The New York Shakespeare Festival with Raul Julia and Clifton Davis in the male leads and Jonelle Allen and a bewitching Diana Davila in the female leads. Then it moved to Broadway and picked up two Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical and ran for 614 performances. Subsequently the musical toured extensively and has been tapped for numerous revivals. This window card represents its 1973 stopover in Baltimore at the Mechanic Theatre where the local critic found it "charming". Window card is in excellent condition. Two very tiny pin holes at top center separated by about 1/8 of an inch. Two very tiny pinholes at bottom center separated by about 1". Slight bend to bottom left corner of about 1/3 of an inch, top left corner about 1/16th of an inch and top right corner of about 1/4 inch. Neither the pinholes nor the slight corner-bends are particularly noticeable and the card is more than suitable for display. 14x22 Shipping for this item is $8.00
