Garnet is not really a kind of gem but rather a family of closely related gem species. Rhodolite is one of the more popular varieties, occurring in rich purplish tones. This rhodolite measures approximately 5 mm from point to base and is channel set on one base end and set in V bezels on the opposite point end. We estimate its weight at 0.55 carat. The gemstone is a vibrant reddish purple lilac color with good, eye clean clarity and is of very good overall cut. This gem is 100% genuine, natural, untreated, and unenhanced! Garnet is January's birthstone, and rhodolite garnet is sometimes used as an alternate June birthstone for those wanting an affordable natural gemstone option...but this piece is a joy to own and wear regardless of your birth month! The diamonds have an estimated combined weight of 0.06 carat and are securely channel set; very smooth with nothing to catch. This slide pendant is solid gold and unworn; don't be duped into buying a cheap gold-plated ring or someone else's worn-out castoff! The pendant measures approximately 18 x 8 mm with a slide opening that will allow it to be worn on a cord, wire, larger chain, or up to about a 5 mm omega necklace. It comes with a nice, sturdy pendant stye rope chain from Agem Co., style number CH-41-18Y, but it easily slides off to be changed. The chain is finished to 18 inches in length and is held with a quality spring ring clasp. The pendant weighs 3.3 grams and the chain weighs 0.9 gram for a total weight of the piece of about 4.2 grams.
