Description: Sadly, the time has come to downsize so I will be selling some of my favorite collections. Since Christmas is coming, I am starting with the Department 56 Alpine Village series. I have collected these over many years, but only displayed this one on one or two occasions. I am the original owner. Today's piece is called "St. Nicholas." It features the famous St. Nicholas, who turns up to reward well-behaved children on the evening of December 5th. Children, to this day, leave their shoes outside the door and hope that St. Nicholas will fill them with candy, nuts, fruit, and small gifts. The Santa Claus legend began hundreds of years ago with the generous deeds of St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra. This one is very special. Released in 1998 and retired in 2005, it comes boxed and in absolutely perfect condition. The box is good condition with a crease on the front from storage. The trees in the background are not included in the sale.
