Description: Extremely Scarce and Highly Unique Winged Wheel Torpedo Front Fender Ornament. This belongs to the Torpedo Werke AG Frankfurt Germany Bicycle. They made these bicycles as far back as 1934 with this ornamentation (Please see the attached 1934 Advertisement on the last picture, ad is not included). The company also manufactured typewriters and Motorcycles. The Bicycle Factory was destroyed in WWII. However was rebuilt with bicycles manufactured for many years there after the war. If you are lucky enough to find a Torpedo Werke Bike in decent condition, the first thing you will notice about it is this cool ornament that adorns the very front of the front fender. These German bicycles are hard to find. The Fender Ornament, especially in Excellent Condition is nearly impossible to find. The people that have them usually aren't parting with them as they are most likely on the bike and the bikes have gotten very collectible over the years. Measures 3-1/4" Long and is 2-1/4" Tall. The Winged wheel is cast out of aluminum. The base, although looking like brass, is actually steel. Reasonably Priced.
