I just obtained a gigantic personal collection of Magic DVDs from a magician who has accumulated them over 2+ decades. And I already had bought a big wholesale close-out of DVDs from my supplier. So, I am up to my knees in DVDs! Literally! I need to find good homes for all the DVD's in this collection, so I will be listing them with little or no description. But check out the photos of the DVD case blurbs, and do a little research online for price and content, and you can get some great deals on these DVDs. I have quickly checked that they load and play, but can't take the time to watch them all and give my opinion/review. THIS THAT & THE OTHER by Bruce Amato (dvd version of VHS video from 1991)Bruce Amato's name is familiar to me from seeing it in various magic periodicals in the early 1990s. He put this material out on a VHS in 1991, and transferred it to DVD probably in the early 2000's. (The DVD does not show an updated production year)Amato's material is solid, practical stuff -- on this DVD he teaches mostly close-up, but also a few standup routines, like the Egg Bag. I recommend this DVD to beginning and intermediate close-up workers -- you will learn some impressive routines that do not require a ton of sleights. NOTE: in re-formatting the videotaped material to this DVD format, Amato did not create a standard DVD menu. There's only a "Main Menu" which allows you to start playing the DVD -- no chapters to jump easily to each trick as is typical on DVDs. So it is a bit inconvenient to watch, as you need to fast forward or rewind if you want to get to a particular trick section. Of course, for us old-timers, it brings back memories of learning magic off VHS tapes :-) (And for you younger magicians, you get a chance to see how it was in the old days!)Retail on this DVD is $15, but I got a good deal on a few of them, so get it here for less.
