The orchestra gives concerts in several Salzburg venues, including the Großes Festspielhaus, the Great Hall of the Stiftung Mozarteum. In addition to symphony orchestra concerts, the orchestra serves as accompanying ensemble for operas and musical theatre performances at the Salzburg State Theater. The ensemble was founded in 1841 with the help of Mozart’s sons Franz Xaver and Karl Thomas, as well as his widow Constanze, under the musical direction of Alois Taux. In 1908, the ensemble officially adopted the name "Mozarteum Orchestra". The Mozarteum Orchestra participates regularly at the Salzburg Festival, such as in the Festival's 'Mozart Matinees'. It also performs several concerts at the Salzburg Mozart Week and for the Salzburg Cultural Association. In 2008, the Mozarteum Orchestra began a young project, '2 ORCHESTRAS', which presents new works for the combination of a professional orchestra and a youth orchestra.[1] Composers who have written works for this project have included Kurt Schwertsik[2] and Toshio Hosokawa. The orchestra's current chief conductor is Riccardo Minasi, since September 2017. He had made his first guest-conducting appearance with the orchestra in September 2016, and the orchestra announced his appointment in December 2016.[3] The prior chief conductor, Ivor Bolton, who held the post from 2004 to 2016, now has the title of Ehrendirigent (Honorary Conductor) with the orchestra. Past principal guest conductors of the orchestra have included Trevor Pinnock. The orchestra's current principal guest conductor is Giovanni Antonini. The Mozarteum Orchestra has recorded commercially for such labels as Oehms Classics, Sony Classical, and NaiveBernhard Paumgartner (1887–1971)Bernhard Paumgartner (born 14 November 1887 in Vienna; died 27 July 1971 in Salzburg) was an Austrian conductor, composer and musicologist. He is most famous for being Herbert von Karajan's composition teacher at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, where he recognized his pupil's potential gifts for conducting. Karajan would become a notable conductor. He also taught Vittorio Negri.Mozart, c. 1781, detail from portrait by Johann Nepomuk della CroceWolfgang Amadeus Mozart[a] (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791), baptised as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart,[b] was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical period.Born in Salzburg, in the Holy Roman Empire, Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty, embarking on a grand tour. At 17, Mozart was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court but grew restless and travelled in search of a better position. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in Vienna, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his early death at the age of 35. The circumstances of his death are largely uncertain, and have thus been much mythologized.Despite his short life, his rapid pace of composition resulted in more than 600 works of virtually every genre of his time. Many of these compositions are acknowledged as pinnacles of the symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral repertoire. He is considered among the greatest classical composers of all time,[1][2] and his influence on Western music is profound, particularly on Ludwig van Beethoven. His elder colleague Joseph Haydn wrote: "posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years"Scans/Photos of the actual items are shown. Shipping Notes: - I try to get everything out the next available postal day after payment clears, but my ‘day job’ is very hectic and chaotic from time to time so there might be a couple days delay until I can get to the post office. Further with the Federal closing of smaller post offices (mine included), it might take a couple extra days to arrive. - If you need it quickly, just ask and I usually have no problem accommodating your wishes. - I combine shipping. - I sell and ship internationally. However, once it leaves the United States, buyers assume the risk of the package getting there, if it makes it to that country intact, which is more than fair.Shipping rates vary due to location of where the item is being sent. If I offer free shipping on any items it is for the United States only unless noted. Other Legal-eze: - I offer a money back guarantee provided I get the item back in the condition it was sent and it’s within 30 days of receipt of said item. - Payment must be made thru eBay. Unless you are local and can pick the item up. There are other arrangements that can be made if necessary – feel free to ask. Happy Hunting and Thank You for your time looking at my ‘trinkets’!
