The Grey Zone (2001) A Nazi doctor, along with the Sonderkomando, Jews who are forced to work in the crematoria of Auschwitz against their fellow Jews, find themselves in a moral grey zone. Colditz (2005) During WWWII the German command converts the Saxon castle of Colditz into an escape-proof prison where it houses recidivist escapees under one roof. Stalingrad (1993) A depiction of the brutal battle of Stalingrad, the Third Reich's 'high water mark', as seen through the eyes of German officer Hans von Witzland and his battalion. Nuremberg (2000) The dramatized account of the war crime trials following the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II. The Bunker (1981) Dramatization depicting the events surrounding Adolf Hitler's last weeks in and around his underground bunker in Berlin before and during the battle for the city. Escape from Sobibor (1987) Following the Wannsee Conference on January 20, 1942, the Nazi regime created six "Death Camps" (extermination centers) in Eastern Poland. Three of these were set up under "Operation Reinhard," named for Reinhard Heydrich, who had chaired the Wannsee Conference, where the ""Final Solution"" was decreed. One of the "Reinhard" camps was Sobibor (the other Reinhard camps were Belzec and Treblinka; Auschwitz-Birkenau, Chelmno, and Majdanek were also extermination centers). Other concentration camps were mainly labor or punishment camps, but the extermination centers had only one purpose - to kill as many Jews as possible as quickly as possible. A small group of prisoners were kept back from the gas chambers to work the camp under control of the Nazi guards. This is the story of what life was like for those people who had to watch their countrymen and families die. Pushed to the limit of human endurance, they finally found a way to fight back. The spirit of humanity at its most desperate and most magnificent. Operation Valkyrie (2004) In 1944, a group of high command officers plot an attempt against Hitler, and one of the leaders of the conspiracy, Stauffenberg (Sebastian Koch), goes to a meeting with the Fuhrer in charge of exploding the place. However, Hitler survives and the officers are executed. This unsuccessful operation was called "Valkyrie Operation", and this realistic movie discloses this true event. The Diary of Anne Frank (2009) Five-part adaptation of Anne Frank's famous wartime diaries. The Grey Zone (2001) During the Jewish Holocaust of the Second World War, as part of the genocidal "Final Solution"", several death camps are established in occupied Poland to receive, process, and exterminate the Jews of Europe. To help run this massive machinery of death, the German S.S. establishes the Jewish Sonderkommandos: special groups of prisoners who will help run the gas chambers in exchange for special privileges, unheard of by Concentration Camp standards. "The Grey Zone" thus explores the life of 12th Auschwitz Sonderkommando, up to and including a major uprising in which the Sonderkommando destroyed two gas chambers after learning that they were to be killed and replaced by a new group of prisoners. Colditz (2005) English soldier Jack Rose met the love of his life, Lizzie Carter only weeks before he was captured by the Germans early in WWII. During his first escape attempt, he showed a picture of her to another escapee, Scotsman Nick McGrade. But only McGrade escaped. Rose was recaptured and sent to a higher security prison, the infamous Colditz Castle. McGrade had promised to tell Lizzie that Jack was alive, but, coveting her for himself, he had other plans in mind. Stalingrad (1993) "Stalingrad" follows the progress of a German Platoon through the brutal fighting of the Battle of Stalingrad. After having half their number wiped out and after being placed under the command of a sadistic Captain, the Lieutenant of the platoon leads his men to desert. The men of the platoon attempt to escape from the city which is now surrounded by the Soviet Army. Nuremberg (2000) In 1945, after the end of the World War II with the defeat of a ruined Germany, the Allies decide to give a fair trial to twenty-one Nazi leaders POW as an example of intolerance of the governments against hideous atrocities in war. The defendants are accused crimes of war and against humanity, and the American Chief Prosecutor Robert Jackson is assigned to organize an international tribunal at Nuremberg with representatives from France, Russia and England. The prisoners under the leadership of Hitler's second-in-command Marshall Hermann Goering dispute the control in a juridical battle in the courtroom. The Bunker (1981) In 1945, The Third Reich is in its death throes with the Allies relentlessly attacking the capital city of Berlin. Its Fuehrer, Adolf Hitler, retreats into his fortified bunker in Berlin with his senior staff. There, gripped with both delusions of grandeur and despair, Hitler commands a hopeless last stand with resources existing largely in his own mind. While resisting the pleas of rational minions like Albert Speer, basic reality finally comes unavoidable. With that, Hitler and his fanatical fellows prepare for their own end even as their grandiose dreams are becoming a smoking ruin above. Escape from Sobibor (1987) The historical recreation of the escape from the Nazi Death Camp Sobibor, where approximately one-quarter million Jews were executed. Of approximately 600 prisoners who attempted escaped in October 1943, around 300 succeeded. However, nearly all were ultimately recaptured; only about 60 people survived Sobibor.
