Description: The Pogues were an Irish rock band that are also considered an influential punk band. They WERE punk, but punk done their own way. Irish punk, but with Celtic sounds, as well as folk. Celtic Irish folk punk! The Pogues began their decades long career in 1982. The band was led by Shane MacGowan, until he left (the first time. He was in and out for several years). The Pogues released their first studio album in 1984, FORTY years ago! Elvis Costello produced their second studio album (titled 'Rum Sodomy & the Lash'). The band opened up for The Clash in the early days, and The Clash's Joe Strummer even joined The Pogues for a few years in the early 90s! The music of The Pogues is strange and wonderful at the same time... In 1988, The Pogues released a single called "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" (yeah 5X). It wasn't on any album at that time, but was added as a bonus track on the 2005 reissue of the 1989 album 'Peace and Love', produced by Steve Lillywhite. "Yeah " came out in two different 12" vinyl editions, with extra tracks. The first contains the traditional Irish song "The Limerick Rake", which was also recorded by many (mostly Irish) musicians through the years. One even adds a Pogues' remake of the classic Rolling Stones hit "Honkey Tonk Woman". The other 12" features The Pogues' version of another traditional Irish song "Whiskey In a Jar", made famous by Thin Lizzy (the Irish hard rock band) and Metallica! Each has different artwork on the cover, and both have the same band pic on the back, with song titles and credits. One has both the long and short versions of "Yeah". They also add the track "Jack's Hero's", spelled, of course, incorrectly. Both have a few light surface marks on them, but nothing bad. No deep scratches, gouges, or scuffs. Both jackets have a little wear, one a bit more than the other. Both have a cut-out notch on the bottom. Check out some vintage Pogues' music with these two 12" maxi-singles for their (minor) hit song "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" with extra tracks added to each one! There will never be another band like The Pogues... (RIP Shane MacGowan, Darryl Hunt, Philip Chevron, and Joe Strummer. Each one of you made significant contributions to The Pogues' sound and vision, and you were all awesome musicians. You are all missed!) Shipping worldwide.
