Some patches are adhered with wardrobe back to back tape so they can be removed before washing so they don't fade and look too distressed throughout the series. Some were sewn on the wardrobe and then removed post production. Costumes of the background actors on the navel ships are often sent to a wardrobe warehouse to be used on other shows therefore where the patched need to be removed from the costumes department. Hero costumes are most always released for resale or auction. Wardrobe tape is easily removed. Some patches come with wardrobe tape on the back. Guarenteed authentic.
