Minor bumping, surface, and edgewear. Hinges and binding exceptionally tight. Pages lightly tanned. Only occasional imperfections within. The condition of this book is remarkable. As Twain bibliographer Kevin MacDonnell wrote: "This was a true boy's book, and surviving copies are proof of how rough on books little boys can be. Fine copies are rare. Chipped spines, split joints, and cracked hinges are the norm. A fine copy of the first printing will fetch $10,000 to $15,000 in cloth, and more in the leather bindings.
