Weems was a popular band artist from 1923 through 1934. He then signed subsequently signed with Decca from 1936. Weems moved to Chicago with his band around 1928. The Ted Weems Orchestra had more chart success in 1929 with the novelty song "Piccolo Pete", which rewarded him with his second Gold Record, and the #1 hit "The Man from the South". The band gained popularity in the 1930s, making regular radio broadcasts. *************************** Arthur L. Jarrett Jr. (July 20, 1907 – July 23, 1987) He was an American singer, actor, and bandleader in the 1930s and 1940s. In the late 1920s into the 1930s, Jarrett was a member of the dance orchestras of Earl Burtnett, Ted Weems and Red Nichols. Jarrett played banjo, guitar and trombone as well as singing. He recorded for the several labels. His high tenor voice made him popular in feature films and shorts. Presented in the CD is a selection of recordings featuring Art Jarrett with Ted Weems and His Orchestra. The last two bonus selections, Tracks 21 and 22, are from recordings made in 1932 with Art Jarrett, Connie Boswell and Red Nichols.
