Description: Ted Lewy, a German Jew, trained as an artist in China and came to San Francisco during the World War II. After enlisting in the Army, he served as a military artist. When the war was over, Lewy took a job at the Emporium Department, designing shopping bags, cartons, and hat boxes that many of San Francisco's women kept on the top shelves of their bedroom closets.Soon, Lewy fell in love with all things San Francisco, and began drawing scenes from around town--watercolor and ink studies of Cable Cars, the San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate Bridge, fishing boats and shipyards. These two delightful watercolors are excellent representations both of Lewy's skill as well as his whimsical eye.The unframed dimensions are roughly 7 x 10--and both are in superb condition. The frames are also in great condition--apart from the loosened wire in the back on one, which needs to be re-anchored. (Picture included.)These are sold as a set for $500. Seller does not accept returns.
