Jeremenko was born in Yugoslavia in 1938 and moved to Philadelphia in 1950. In the 1960s, he moved to New York City and worked in the computer and banking sectors. In his spare time, he painted. In 1971, he began pursuing his interest in art and architecture after a trip to East Hampton, Long Island. Due to a strong reaction at his first exhibition, he began to devote more energy to painting. He soon settled in East Hampton and focused on painting.
