It has a digital optical output, allowing you to dub digitally to a CD-R or MiniDisc deck, or to hook the SL-MC4 up straight into the digital input of a Dolby Digital receiver. Naturally, it also sports an RCA-type analog audio output. On the convenience side of the feature spectrum, it's a fairly deluxe machine, offering CD Text compatibility. This means that the player will display song titles and artist name automatically, if they're encoded on the CD. What's more, if you come across a CD that wasn't encoded with that information, you can input the info manually, a process made easier by the 10-key pad on the player's front panel. The SL-MC4 is a front-loading machine that lets you swap out discs while one's playing. A filing system allows you to sort discs by 14 different genres.
