Description: Takashi MurakamiXKiki & Kaiki this is Plush Stuffed animal toyOriginal Murakami release Tonari no Zingaro this is for Kiki Plush size smallapprox 10 inches high by 10 inches wide this is Original Authentic Murakami release!! literally a piece of artwork that will appreciate forever while you appreciate Murakami's amazing art There’s a two for one here as these two characters rarely appear without each other. They can be distinguished easily by the respective lengths of their ears and names; Kiki is the pink monster with the short ears, whilst Kaikai is the white, rabbit-like creature. Unlike their colleague Mr DoB, Kiki and Kaikai never change shape or colour, and always appear in their cute, cartoony original forms. It’s perhaps because of this that they have become more recognisable and maybe even more prevalent than DoB himself. Indeed, Kiki and Kaikai lend their names to Murakami’s company: Kaikai Kiki Co. Ltd. as its proper name reads. Another testament to their apparent superior popularity is their appearance as Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons in 2010. They are also the protagonist of a few short episodes of a TV show created by Murakami and aimed at children. In these episodes their personalities are expanded on, with Kiki easily excitable and erratic, whilst Kaikai plays the more rational, wise counterpart. These character traits can perhaps be guessed at given the expression that both often wear in their roles in Murakami’s art, and at its very simplest deduced from the size of each creature’s eyes, prime sources of emotional expression if ever there were any.It appears to be unclear what Kiki and Kaikai’s true purpose really is, as despite their recent rise to fame they are much less of a talking point as Mr DoB. Budding international icons they may be, but they are not an obvious metaphor in the same way that their blue friend is. Murakami himself also seems to have spoken less frequently about them, but has curiously described them as representatives of his mind in a similar, albeit more mysterious, way that Mr DoB is. Their moonlighting in Murakami’s video may suggest them to be vessels for the artist to live in a fantasy world of his own devising, lining up neatly with that Otaku arch-goal of escapism. In my own thinking however they team up with Murakami’s other mental ambassador to allow for a deeper exploration of the artist’s mind. This, indeed, is considered as the true goal of art by some, and perhaps is an avenue that Murakami has investigated in his quest to discover what art is. Officia.
