Description: We are delighted to offer this rare and scarce complete chess set, from Ecuador, circa 1960s. Each piece has nice balance and weight. The king measures approximately 4.5” high and weighs approximately 83 grams. Each piece requires 1-3 tagua nuts. There are subtle differences between the pieces as they are made individually. The faces and headdress feature fine, intricate detail. The white pieces have taken on a beautiful, aged patina. While this rare set is in overall good condition, it does have nicks and chips consistent with age and use. We identified those with blemishes in the last photo. The pieces come in a wood case with a tile. The chessboard is not included in this auction. We appreciate your careful review of the photos as they tell so much more than we can articulate; and ask that you zoom in for a closer look at any and all condition issues. We welcome questions and encourage you to ask before reaching a buying decision. As always, we thank you for taking a moment to consider this set.
