TA15+ Single Origin Raw Jarrah Honey – Australian Wildflower

Description: Natures cure for those who want the gift of health and vitality. This rich amber coloured honey it is not as sweet as other honeys and has a deep and complex caramel-like flavour. A mono-floral honey produced from the nectar of the Jarrah tree (Eucalyptus marginata) which is endemic to the southwest of Western Australia. Jarrah trees can live up to 1,000 years and are very slow growing, taking 120 years to reach full maturity (to be able to produce their best honeys!). The individual trees only produce flowers for a few months every 4 years. Jarrah honey has high antibacterial and antimicrobial activity and due to its high hydrogen peroxide level, it can inhibit Golden Staph bacteria (which can cause a range of mild to severe infections). Raw honey has been extensively used as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of numerous diseases and demonstrates beneficial effects in many physiological systems, for example, the cardiovascular, nervous, respiratory and gastrointestinal systems. For more information see our blog post on the science here: RAW HONEY AS A THERAPEUTIC AGENT FOR THE TREATMENT Extracted raw so that it contains all of the goodness that nature intended. This honey has an independently lab tested Total Activity rating of 15+, a low Glycaemic Index (GI) <55 and Positive Probiotic Index (0.91, where 1.0 denotes being as effective as a commercial prebiotic). Antimicrobial Properties The antibacterial activity of jarrah honey is attributed and influenced by various properties of honey, such as low water content, high viscosity, acidity, hydrogen peroxide content, peptides, non-peroxidase glycopeptides and proteins. Hydrogen peroxide content is believed to be the two biggest contributing factors to antibacterial properties in this honey. Industry recognised measurement of honey antibacterial activity is Total Activity (TA): A measure of the antimicrobial potency (bacterial + fungal) of honey. It is determined by the level of hydrogen peroxide and non-peroxide antimicrobial activity present in the honey. Expressed as %phenol which is a scientific measure of total antibacterial activity. The higher the number, the higher the honeys antimicrobial activity. This Jarrah honey has been laboratory tested and confirmed to have a TA rating of TA15+. This is considered “Therapeutic Grade” – it is able to be used in general skin and oral care. Maintains digestive health and boosts the immune system under the guidance of a medical professional. There are a range of different measures on honey jars which are measuring completely different things. However, they are all reasonable measurements to signify the quality of honey. Understanding that these measurements are different, the industry has broad acceptance that TA15+ is broadly equivalent to: NPA 15+, MGO 514+, UMF™ 15+. Below are some the scientifically demonstrated benefits Jarrah honey specifically (over and above general raw honey benefits): Treatment of superficial dermatophyte infections, commonly known as tineasInhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible and methicillin-resistant strains), Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus faecalis. Probiotic Properties Jarrah honey has a Positive Probiotic Index, with jarrah scoring 0.91, a score of 1.0 denotes the honey is as effective as the commercial prebiotic. Specifically, it has been proven to promote excellent beneficial impact on: Laca – Increase in lactobacilli counts in microcosmsBifb – Increase in bifidobacteria counts in microcosmsCloc – Decrease in clostrida counts in microcosmsEntd – Decrease in enteric bacteria counts in microcosmsPIe -Prebiotic Index values calculated from bacterial counts in microcosmsButyric acidf – Increase in butyric acid levels in microcosmsST inhibitiong – Inhibition of S. typhimurium seeded into microcosmsSTh – Inhibitory effect of microcosm supernatant on growth of S. typhimuriumCDi – Inhibitory effect of microcosm supernatant on growth of C. difficileECj – Inhibitory effect of microcosm supernatant on growth of E. coliLFk – Growth of L. fermentum in microcosm supernatant About Australian Wildflower Our premium range epitomizes the purity and essence of Western Australia's unique environment, products that are 100% pure, natural, and sourced from one of the world's most pristine areas.Single origin provenance, fully traceability and purity being free from GMOs, GE, or glyphosate. We select mono-floral varietals that are medicinal and recognized for their exceptional health benefits.Embracing unfiltered, unblended and raw processing techniques, our honey retains vital vitamins, minerals, prebiotics, probiotics, antioxidants and enzymes.
