Description: This listing presents an opportunity to own an officially licensed, limited edition replica from the original 750 piece run of the ‘Sword of The Dread Pirate Roberts’ from the movie The Princess Bride (1987). It features the original, individually hand numbered, shield shaped plaque. This sword was produced with great attention to detail to match the film prop which the Dread Pirate Roberts played by Cary Elwes, wielded in the film. Due to its scarcity, this sword cost the owner AUD$1,700 to purchase at auction in 2015. Limited to 750 pieces worldwide, this replica (numbered 199 of 750), was copied directly from the original prop sword and features a high-quality, hand-forged blade made from high-carbon spring steel (SAE5160) with a full-tang construction. The handle has chrome plated aluminum accents and is wrapped in genuine buffalo leather. The guard and pommel are chrome-plated brass. It includes a numbered, wall hanging mango-wood display and a firm and glossy certificate of authenticity booklet, featuring a special introduction by Director Rob Reiner. The original box, which is simply cardboard and contains nil graphical artwork, is shown in photos. As the box is quite beaten up, should the prospective buyer want to retain this exact box, when shipped, the box will be heavily reinforced with bubble wrap and packaging tape to ensure the safety of the item inside. The sword comes with its original leather scabbard, wall mounted display shield and numbered plaque, a certificate of authenticity and a prop story booklet, featuring a special introduction by Director Rob Reiner. All are in excellent condition except for an ever so slight crease in the top left corner of the front of the booklet cover - It is hardly noticeable but can be seen in photos. Although the sword was displayed for several months during photography, the booklet and plaque have not been displayed and had to be removed from their original packaging and tissue paper, just to be photographed for this listing. The plaque comes with its original mountain materials still contained in their original clear plastic packet.
