Description: As we all know, after WWII, we helped Japan get back on her feet by encouraging small industries, such as ceramics. Enormous amounts of items we now regard as kitsch were made in the 1950s and this is a great example. The little Majolica-styled woven basket has two tiny flowers on its top, a handle, and three holes, to be used as a salt shaker. The bottom has long since lost its cork but does have the "Japan" stamp. The piece is in good, age-related condition -- there are no chips or cracks. The basket is approx. 2" tall x 2" wide x 1 1/2" deep.
