Description: Susan Fletcher Crawford ARE (1864-1918) Rathaus Aachen Original Signed Titled Etching A very precise, careful etcher. She was born in Glasgow and studied the art of etching at The Glasgow School of Art. A landscape and architectural etcher, her work is well represented and she exhibited regularly at both the Glasgow Institute and the RSA. She devoted her career to etching, as she taught the art form for almost a quarter of a decade back where she learnt it, at The Glasgow School of Art. Recorded hat she exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1910 and interesting to speculate whether this was one of etchings she submitted. Signed in pencil right lower margin and above printed within the plate both her signature and the title. The city hall in Aachen Germany. Aachen is a spa town close the borders of Belgium and The Netherlands. The Rathaus built from the 14th Century in Gothic style still stands today and is a city attraction. Plate: 240 x 95. Sheet: 320 x 155. Printed on a pale cream laid paper. The etching is loose, paper hinged from the top and mounted as shown in a white thick mount measuring 400 x 240 with a deep cut angled aperture of 255 x 110. Dimension is millimetres (mm). The condition of the etching and mount is extremely good with no foxing, tears, damage or creasing. A very nice etching in a very nice mount. I take photos only in natural daylight. I do not digitally enhance the images. I try to ensure what you see is what you get.
