Stunning Antique Weller Pottery Lotus Bloom Flower Frog 1920s Weller Ware Green

Description: Featured in this auction is a magnificent pottery flower frog made by Weller Pottery during the 1920's. This substantial flower frog is in excellent condition with no chips, light crazing, and no repairs. There are tiny pops and pinholes in the glaze and a very-minor firing crack just at the end of one "foot". This piece is 3-1/4" tall and just over 5" wide at the base. The base of this piece is unmarked, but the flower frog has been identified as a piece of "Weller Ware" by the reference guide "Flower Frogs for Collectors" by Bonnie Bull. The flower frog would most likely have originally had a "Weller Ware" paper label on the base -- now long gone. The stilt marks are visible. The imagery on this piece is of a lotus bloom along with lily pad and lotus buds in a stunning arts-and-crafts design. There is a beautiful indigo-blue underglaze (most visible on the base) with a rich, matte green overdrip. The blending of glazes adds real depth and interest to the piece. There is very-light scuffing and an area of rust staining at the base edge from gentle use; however, this flower frog is relatively clean. Check out all 12 photos!
