Description: This is one of my better samples. The fossil was found in west central Arkansas. The Fossil Stigmaria plant root is around 360 million years old. Stigmaria are a type of branching tree root fossil found in Carboniferous rocks. They were the roots of coal forest lycopsid trees such as Sigillaria and Lepidodendron.
