Description: 1979 edition of STEVE MARTIN's first literary work, autographed with what was a very popular saying in 1979 from Robin Williams MORK & MINDY character. I attended a book signing with Steve Martin at Book Soup in West Hollywood in 2000 for the paperback release of his novel, Shopgirl. I bought several books, waited on line, and filled out little yellow post-it stickers in each book with the requested inscription. I decided to avoid the pedestrian (EXCUUUUUUUUSE MEEEE) and opted for other catch-phrases (my favorite was WHERE'S THE BEEF?). Mr. Martin wasn't particularly amused and asked why I did this. I said, 'I didn't think you'd want to sign, 'to a Wild and Crazy Guy,' to which he gave me a contemptuous look and very loudly and sarcastically exclaimed to the heavens, "YES! THANK YOU!!'
