Description: A Stanley Bailey No 4 Plane. This is a type 13 made in USA in the 1920s, as indicated by the single patent date behind the frog, and flat body under the front knob (type 14s and beyond have a raised ring). This one has been disassembled, cleaned and oiled. The japanning has been lightly touched up in places. The front knob was heavily chipped at the bottom so I swapped it for a decent, intact low knob from a type 11 plane. The rear handle had a split which I have repaired and it is barely visible and solid. Probably one of the best I've managed. The cutter bears the Sweetheart stamp and is almost full length. It will need sharpening if intended for use. Sole and sides have been lapped, but not excessively and marks of age and use still remain. Casting is solid. I'm happy to combine postage costs where I can. Thank you for looking.
