Description: STANLEY 101 CONVERSION PLANE FULLY FUNCTIONING MINI CARRIAGE MAKERS PLANE3-1/2" long , 1-1/4" wide , cutter -1/4" wide work done Started with a Stanley 101 stripped the body then removed the thumb slot from the nose so the knob could sit flat on the body. I left the raise nub on the heal this helps keep the tote in place. The Tote is grooved on the front which slides into the cutter rails which keeps the toe of the tote from moving. Hand made tote & knob finished off with a thick coat of clear lacquer. Tote and knob are held in place with counter sunk screws coming up through the sole. I added fake brass barrel nuts to the tote and knob on this plane. I do them both way with or without either way they look great. I use a Stanley 103 cutter to make the carriage maker cutter then it was lapped and sharpened. The cap was made from a piece of the sole with the patent dates on it from a Stanley no.4 type 10. Used a brass tension screw. Back side of the cap is engraved Ziggy's tools 10/28/24 #7 This is the 7th one of these I have made I am only going to make 10 of these.I do my best to repurpose vintage plane parts to make my conversions. Each plane has its own individual characteristics. While they will make a great addition to any mini plane collection they are a fully functioning plane.
