Description: Excellent 1830 stampless folder letter (SFL) from Colonel Samuel Ringwalt, “On Public Service” to His Excellency, George Wolf, Esq., Governor of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, PA. Entered mails in Lancaster, PA, April 24, 1830, where the clerk struck a fancy brownish “LANC Pa APR” CDS (ms. date “24”, a backwards “N”in “LANC”, florets below), and “20” inland rate (“10 x2 for double-weight, FLS contained depositions). Content easily read: military-related, mentions Adjutant General, Major Hambright, ordinance, Volunteer Companies, etc. Docketing confirms receipt by Governor’s office. Great artifact for the U.S. historian. See scan(s) and good luck!
