Description: Using Amsteel Dyneema line, and working with a professional sailboat rigger, I've developed a line of splices. Keeping a consistency in the size and color coding is key for me Red loop has a 24" circumference Blue loop has a 48" circumfrence Orange has 2 loops and is 22" long Yellow has 2 loops and is 34" long Grey under 12" circumference and is a special order. The green you see is a prototype and not available as yet. It is adjustable. These numbers are subject to an inch or so difference accounted in them being all handmade. The red loop has been tested and proven strong at 10,000 pounds. This test was done at a professional tool and die place in Seattle, Washington. The loop tested was returned and what was "popping" at that strength was the black whipping you see, not the line itself. These splices have been proven very useful. Sailboat applications Towing vehicles Pulling out car dents Pulling boat motors Pulling car motors Arboretum uses Securing loads You can check the strength of these lines by going to the Amsteel Dyneema line site. The size I use for these splices is 3/16" line. I use a Brummel splice with a long bury so there are 2 layers of line overlapping within. This line needs a ceramic knife to cut it.
