Description: This mineral is from Sterling Hill Mine in NJ. Please note: Fluorescent Rocks need a shortwave (SW) and/or a Longwave (LW) Ultraviolet (UV) light. These are UV Fluorescent rocks not blacklight rocks. UV light is divided, at a minimum, into both Shortwave and Longwave light. Shortwave UV light has a wavelength of 254 nanometers, while Longwave has a wavelength of from 320 to 400 nanometers. For best results use a filtered UV light. My pictures in SW were taken using a 70W 254nm filtered light. My Pictures in LW were illuminated with a 365nm 36W filtered light. The Filter is important to reduce unwanted washout of the rock’s fluorescents.
