The hat is in a gray wool pile with a cotton liner. Comes with a correct Soviet Army EM hat badge of 1970s-80s vintage. The liner shows the Soviet-period logo of the Fur Goods Factory in the city of Bobruisk, Belorussia, with the year of manufacture. Marked Size 58 (Large, will fit a US size 7 ¼ head). If you are buying one to wear and not just to add to your collection, but need a larger size: with determined stretching (perhaps over a block of wood or using an actual hat stretching device - such gizmos do exist) plus a lot of daily wear these surplus ushankas may expand by at least a size or two (i.e. to a Russian size 59 / 60). Some of our customers also reported effectively using a soccer ball for the same purpose. Very good to excellent, unissued condition; the fur shows only storage age and a couple of small moth bites but no mildew problems. The moth bites look much worse in the photos than in reality. There is also a small threadbare spot to the wood pile, barely visible with the naked eye. Please note: The hat shown in our photographs is a sample.
