Description: "Solitude" is a vintage Norman Edson photograph reproduced by the "Aqua-Color" process and used on a 1930 calendar. Norman Edson (1876-1968) was a Canadian born photographer who studied painting in Paris. In 1905 Edson traveled to Everett, Washington and later settled on Vashon Island, Washington. His distinctive hand tinted photographic images documented life on Vashon from his arrival in 1921 until his death in 1968. "Solitude" is 11" x 18" in overall size and 7" x 9" in photo size. The 1930 calendar pad is complete, but water damage has caused November and December to be stuck together. There are some small tears in November. The overall condition of the calendar is good, with water damage across the bottom of the calendar that have left a water mark and a light wave in the heavy card stock paper. There is also a small tear on the right side border and edge wear around the piece. The image is in very good condition. F.B. Wines Co. of Tacoma, Washington is the maker of the calendar. Chuck Olson CollectionChuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the item.
