George H. Gay was born in Waco, Texas, on March 8, 1917. He attended schools in Dallas and Houston and college at Texas A&M. Upon entering the U.S. Navy, he took basic training at NAS Jacksonville, Florida. After receiving his wings, Ensign Gay as assigned to VT-8 (Torpedo Squadron Eight), which home ported at NAS Norfolk, Virginia. Following the Battle of Midway, he remained in the Navy, was assigned to VT-11, and flew at Gaudalcanal. Later, Lt. jg Gay was assigned as a combat instructor at NAS Opa-locka, Florida. Upon separation from the Navy, Mr. Gay flew for TWA for 30 years, retired and now lives in Marietta, Georgia. *This book is in very good condition.
