FOR LADY SMITH MODELS 60-3, 60-6, 60-7 and 60-8 ONLY, in .38 SPECIAL - NOT FOR THE LATER .357 MAGNUM LADYSMITH MODELS!! **** Up for sale is a Very Nice Condition, clean 2 Inch Barrel Assembly in Matte Stainless - Chambered in .38 Special - that originated from a well cared-for S&W Model 60-3 Lady Smith Revolver. For the sake of disclosure, the overall length of the Barrel is 1 7/8 Inches - The "community" generally just refers to this length / model of barrel as "2 Inches"... As for the Finish, this Assembly has the Matte Stainless finish, which is also referred to as "Frosted", or "Glass Bead". It is NOT the Brushed Stainless that a traditional Model 60 Chief's Special would come in, nor is it "Bright" or "Polished" Stainless. This Barrel Assembly represents the last of the classic (or "late" Vintage") Machined & Forged Stainless Barrels of this type, that were formed and machined the old-fashioned way out of a billet of steel ... as opposed to the later barrels that S&W started using (and have used ever since) that were MIM (Metal Injected Molded) in form. It even boasts the traditional, vintage "S" Stamping in the steel on the bottom of the Barrel. Condition is very favorable, considering its age of at least 30 years. There are a few light handling marks present: The most notable would be a couple small rub marks in the finish located on the right side of the Barrel just above the ".3 " in the ".38 S&W Special" stamping. Examine the High-Resolution image set closely - on a large-screen laptop or desktop monitor - to get a close-up view of the condition of the item. The Front sight ramp, muzzle, and crown are unblemished. The Bore is shiny and bright, the Rifling is strong, and there is no evidence of any pitting or corrosion anywhere on the Assembly. The Locking Lug and its Spring function as they should, and the Barrel "Twists" are intact, with no modification or damage to the Forcing Cone. Overall, the Barrel Assembly maintains the overwhelming majority of its Factory Original finish and is in very pleasing condition. PLEASE NOTE: This Barrel Assembly is chambered for the .38 Special cartridge ONLY (Formally known as, and stamped on the barrel as ".38 S&W Special") and it is NOT Rated for the ".38 Special +P", nor the .357 Magnum, like the Newer/Later J Frame Revolvers started using, around the Model 60-9, for example... DO NOT USE any .38 Special +P nor any .357 Magnum rounds with this Barrel!! It is an exact replacement in fit, chambering and finish ONLY for the Lady Smith Model 60-6, 60-7 and 60-8 revolvers. DO NOT USE ON ANY MODELS SUCH AS ANY OF THE "600" SERIES, like the 637, 638, 642, etc. that came in a Matte Stainless Finish - All those later model revolvers are all what's considered the newer "J-Magnum" Frame Size revolvers, and the Assembly in this Listing WILL NOT INSTALL PROPERLY ON THOSE GUNS!! - Still have questions??
