There are many big, clunky flight boxes out there designed for glow flyers. Those flight boxes are heavy before you put anything in them! Add a gallon of fuel, a 12-volt motorcycle battery, and tools and you have got a backbreaker. SkyBox is about 2/3rds the size of a traditional flight box and much lighter. It is approximately 16" long x 8" wide and 10"tall. After designing this laser-cut beauty, we made 5 prototypes trying to get the final design just right. We hope you will agree with the final product?s layout and usefulness. Here are the features you can look forward to using: SkyBox was designed to be constructed with special light plywood. It is lightweight but still strong, durable, and attractive.SkyBox can be built and painted, but we suggest a clear finish so that it ages and develops a ?patina? from years in use. There is something to the beauty of wood.SkyBox is laser-cut. That means precision parts, but it also means you can order a custom version with your name, AMA number, or club logo artwork. Just ask!SkyBox has a transmitter area designed to hold a traditional two-stick transmitter or a pistol grip type radio if you are an RC car or RC boat enthusiast.One end of your SkyBox is designed to hold a Lipo battery storage pouch. A Lipo pouch is an extra level of safety during transport. You can carry your batteries to and from the field in the allotted space. However, Lipo batteries should never be stored in SkyBox. Store them in a non-flammable area for extended periods.The upper SkyBox storage areas hold meters, adapters, charging leads, and more.An integral tool storage area is also laser-cut to hold pliers, screwdrivers, hex drivers, and other essential tools so they are there when you need them.On the front of SkyBox is a nice traditional storage drawer for more necessities.The handle is a 1 inch diameter machined wooden dowel. More comfortable than cheap flight boxes of the past. The handle is free to rotate because of the laser-cut plywood washers we provide. This rotation means you are less apt to lose parts or tools!The other SkyBox end is designed to act as a parts tray on top or a charger location. The shelves below have retaining lips and are sized so a standard Plano® 5-Compartment Small Parts Organizer Box (#3449 series) can be kept there to hold all your small precious parts.
