Significant General Omar Bradley Signed Letter (CONTENT!) 1957

Description: General Omar Bradley Signed Letter (1957) expressing his thoughts on topic relative to present day current events. Significant content and thought is presented by General Omar Bradley in his signed letter to Dr. E. R. Stabler, Math Dept. Hofstra College, NY dated November 17, 1957 concerning agreement on issues regards Stabler’s New York Times article. While acknowledging Stabler’s letter and kind remarks regards Bradley’s talk before the convocation of St. Albans in Washington, Bradley concurs with Stabler that “The problem does certainly appear to call for ‘intense thinking in a new dimension’”. In detail, he writes, “The long-range answer discussed in your article and in my talk is, however, complicated by the fact that we are faced by a ruthless nation bent on imposing her ideology on the rest of the world and who, at the present time, may be ahead of us in weapons. I’m afraid we cannot neglect the rapid development of our own scientific weapons without subjecting this country and the rest of the free world to dictation and blackmail by the communists. Therefore, I feel that our solution, while it should be initiated now, is not entirely possible of fulfillment until equality, or superiority, in scientific achievements is assured.” General Bradley served under General George Patton during WWII and after Patton resigned, commanded the Army during the invasion of Normandy. After the war, Bradley became the first chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff during which he oversaw. The US military’s policy making in the Korean War. The Bradley fighting vehicle which began service in 1981 is named for US General Omar Bradley. Letter typed on his Office stationery from Washington DC. 8 X 10.5.
