The incident inspired Shakira to write Dónde Están Los Ladrones? which directly translates to "Where are the thieves?"Despite the unfortunate event that sparked its conception, the album went on to climb Billboard charts and earned a Grammy nomination. Sonically, the album explores a variety of sounds rooted in Latin pop, rock and Middle Eastern music as the Colombian singer-songwriter drew inspiration from her own Colombian and Lebanese background.
