Description: Sevres Style Hand Painted Watteau Scene Raised Gold Floral Cobalt Compote Nice antique French faience pottery shallow compote or cake stand. Decorated with a hand painted Watteau courting couple scene in the center signed G Rochette for Geo Rochette. With hand painted flowers over white framed in gold gilding with raised gold laurel leaves and bows above and raised and beaded gold grapevines in between. Gold beading along the edge. Brass frame around the edge of the compote and base. Has crazing typical of earthenware, some wear to the gilding, and a few small flakes to the bottom edge of the top, but otherwise good condition. Measures approximately 12 1/4 inches wide x 6 1/2 inches tall. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. KX
