Description: Set of Two Antique Jaeger & Co. Bavaria Gold Encrusted Bread and Butter Plates, Each measures 6-1/8" in Width. Pattern Description: Plain Ivory background, Smooth Edge, 1/4" Gold Encrusted Rim with interior border lined in black (maybe cobalt). Unidentified pattern name or number. Company History (per The Old Stuff website): In 1897 Porzellanfabrik Jaeger, Thomas & Co, started by Christoph Jaeger, Wilhelm Jaeger and Fritz Thomas, began producing high quality porcelain. In 1903 Fritz Thomas left the company starting another business, Porzellanfabrik Thomas & Ens. After Thomas left the company, the name was changed to Porzellanfabrik Marktredwitz, Jaeger & Co. In 1923 there was a fire in the factory but it didn't stop its development. The company survived the Great Depression and both world wars and continued to produce porcelain until it was sold to the Italian company Sebring. Production was finally stopped in 1986. Maker's Marks: The plates have a printed green "J & C Bavaria" mark that was used from 1898 until 1923. Condition: Condition: There are no chips, cracks, or repairs.
