Description: These midcentury porcelain cooking pots were made by Seltmann Weiden in Bavaria, Germany. The line is called Feuersieg, of "Fire Victory" - they were made to be used for cooking on electric cooktops as well as in the oven. The MCM design has pink polka dots and light blue rectangles with squiggly vertical lines. I don't know the exact date of these pots, as they are rare and difficult to find. I have included a photo of a company advertisement, so as you can see this type of pot was manufactured as early as the 1940s. My guess is that this design dates from the early 1950s. The pots measure 18cm (approximately 7.5") and 16cm (6.5") in diameter. Seltmann Weiden is a porcelain manufacturer from the Bavarian town of Weiden. The "Christian Seltmann Porcelain Factory" was founded in Weiden in 1910 by Christian Wilhelm Seltmann (born 1870, trained porcelain lathe operator, graduate of the Teplitz-Schönau Porcelain Technical School) after he separated from his brother Johann Seltmann, with whom he had run a joint porcelain company since 1901. His son Wilhelm Seltmann ran the company until 1967. Porzellanfabriken Christian Seltmann GmbH is still a family business.
